Slovenian Judo Federation celebrated the 70th anniversary of judo in Slovenia today in the Union hall in Ljubljana. This exceptional anniversary was also honored by the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, who on this occasion presented two State decorations. The decorations of the Republic of Slovenia are the highest distinctions awarded by the State for exceptional merits and acts of particular importance for the prosperity of Slovenia. The two time Olympic medalist, Tina Trstenjak, received the Golden Order of Merit for outstanding sports achievements, promoting Slovenia on the world sports scene and inspiring people. On the occasion of its 70th anniversary, Slovenian Judo Federation received the Order of Merit for its outstanding contribution to the development of judo in Slovenia and the significant international successes of Slovenian judokas. The decoration was received on behalf of the Judo Federation of Slovenia by its president Lovrencij Galuf.
The ceremony was also attended by the President of the European Olympic Committees, Spyros Capralos, the President of the European Judo Federation, Dr. Lászlo Tóth, Ambassador of Japan to Slovenia, Hiromichi Matsushima and many other guests from Slovenia and abroad.
With today's event, the Slovenian Judo Federation also honored the World Judo Day, which this year is celebrated under the banner "inclusion". Slovenian judokas have been developing and implementing inclusion in Slovenian judo for more than 30 years, and it is becoming an important pillar of the strategy of judo development in the future as well.
